Astel Semisyn, born in 1994 as a R&D company in industrial automation has developed during the years a wide range of design and manufacturing capabilities.
All the electronics used in our systems is of our own design and production, allowing us to have the complete control of our products.
During the years a deep knowledge of wafer handling related mechanics have been developed, allowing us to deal with the challenges of handling thin, warped, bonded or other special wafers such as the TAIKO types.
Astel has a complete design team, equipped with the state-of-the-art design tools. Both electronics and mechanics are developed on the latest CAD systems, including 3D modeling and an advanced rapid prototyping system with 3D printing, CNC milling for special materials such as carbon fiber and printed circuits.
Development and tests instruments available are, among others, CAD and simulation systems, software and firmware development tools, EMC compliance instruments with a special Faraday cage room for measures, burn in and marathon test equipments. A 3D printing system can be used for rapid prototyping.
Astel works in two locations, the headquarter in Ivrea and a development and service location near Milan. The total space available for design and production is more than 1200 sqm, with two mechanical workshops, test laboratories, assembly space and also a class 10.000 clean room.
Tool machines includes traditional and CNC milling, 3D printing, lathe, drills of all kinds, grinders and all the needed tools for prototyping and assembly.
Production is normally done through a number of suppliers selected during the years with all the capabilities to fulfill all the needs of a high end production. Doing this, we can rely on specialists in tooling any type of special material from any type of metal to plastic, ceramic and non conventional materials.
Manufacturing of carbon composite parts for wafer handling is done internally, with a technology developed during years and now able to solve even the most challenging problems related to move the most critical wafers now produced.
A special attention is kept in testing the systems, to be sure to cope with the international standards and to reach the highest possible safety and reliability standards.
All our designs and productions are kept under control with a complete quality system linking together design, production and administrative section.
Each order is traced from the earliest stage, with a precise and detailed specification phase and following with the complete documentation of each design and production step.
